A friend had a little canning party yesterday so the fearful and uninitiated among us could learn the ropes.  Very hot but very fun if you do it with a bunch of friends.  I foolishly forgot to stock up on veggies when I was at the farmers market on Saturday so had to bike to my local (and not very good) grocery store. They didn’t have any pickling cukes so I picked up some beans and cauliflower instead.  (Traded for the pickles on the left.)

I’m hooked! I want to can and pickle and jelly and jam everything in sight!  I like to think of pulling my home-canned goods off the shelf in the winter — very Laura Ingalls, no? (Also a good skill to have for the zombie apocalypse.)
