My name is Mara. I am a doctoral candidate in history working on my dissertation in the nether regions of upstate New York. When I’m not thinking and writing about Cold War history, I am making things, usually with fabric.
I have an Etsy shop — you’ll find the link to the left — and I am love to do custom work, trades and barters. Email me at kleiosbelly [at] gmail [dot] com.
I am happy to have you link to my blog on your site, but please ask before copying pictures and make sure to give me credit!
Like all bloggers, I love to get comments! I will reply directly on the post you commented on, except in special cases where a personal reply seems required, in which case I will email you.
Why “kleio”? Because I like the Greeks better than the Romans.

You so rock!
Now I feel like a loser – I was so happy I learned how to knit a scarf this weekend – which consisted of mastering exactly 2 – no, 3 – stiches.
These bags are adorable.

Hi
I thought it would be funny to google my surname to see what came up, and up popped your website!!!
This tickled my girlfriend greatly as there is a website that basically sounds like it is dedicated to my belly…!
Anyway the website looks great, all the best!

Hi Mara,
I’d love to use your photo that’s on the Sew Mama Sew blog (http://sewmamasew.com/blog2/?p=911) about Mr Widdle and the Seabreeze and then link back to your earlier post http://kleiosbelly.wordpress.com/2009/05/18/growing-things/ – I write a blog with reviews of kids’ book and the activities/play they inspire in us (our family, that is), and your embroidery is truly inspiring. Infact, I’m now trying to track down a copy of the book for myself! Please let me know if it would be ok to use the photo.
Many thanks,
Zoe

Mara –
I’m, I guess, a crafts person. Been making a living at it for 25 years doing stuff for mags etc. here in nyc, a lot of kids, home-deco stuff, wood working etc. etc. Just browsing through blogs for inspiration and found yours and thought I should let you know some great stuff…i.e… sewing etc.But also that I loved your drawings! Very good keep going with those also. That’s a real art to capture what you do in such few strokes of the pen and what I can see, at least, wminus an eraser.
ALL THE BEST
BRENT
